Our 2009 Queen of the Highlands Meghan Hescheles hails from Brighton, MI. She recently transferred to Saginaw Valley Statue University where she will be a junior, working towards her degree in Athletic Training Sports Medicine. Previously, Meghan attended Central Michigan University where she was a student member of the National Athletic Training Association and the Great Lakes Athletic Training Association. She is a competitive Scottish highland dancer and played on the CMU Club lacrosse team. Meghan volunteers for Relay for Life and the Livingston Symphony Orchestra.  

Our 1st Runner-Up, Ashley Smith is from Carleton, MI. She recently graduated Michigan State University with a degree in Human Biology and now plans to become a Pediatric Physicians Assistant. She is a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church youth group and volunteers for Relay for Life and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. While in high school Ashley was the captain of the Carleton Airport varsity volleyball team, a member of the National Honor Society, Students Against Destructive Decisions and the International Club.

Kelly Lynn Malburg, 2nd Runner-Up, hails from Grand Rapids, MI. She is currently a senior at Michigan State University where she is studying Health Studies. Upon graduation, Kelly plans to attend graduate school to obtain a masters degree in business administration and a doctorate in healthcare administration. Kelly plans to oversee a major urban hospital one day. At MSU, she is a member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority and a Sigma Chi fraternity sister. She speaks to high school students on eating disorders and body image, volunteers with Relay for Life and spends her spring breaks offering hurricane relief to those affected by the storms.
