Congratulations to our new 20010 Queen and Court! Madeline Knapp of Rochester, MI was crowned our 2010 Queen of the Highlands this evening at our annual Tartan Day Ceilidh. Holly Manciero from Harrison Township, MI was crowned 1st Runner-Up and Ganeva Ruppert from Okemos, MI 2nd Runner-Up. Congrats ladies - we're looking forward to a wonderful year.

Meghan
and her family attended the Society's annual Burn's Night celebration. She gave a wonderful toast to the Society and enjoyed spending time with friends old and new.

Meghan spent yesterday at the Michigan Celtic Classic Fall highland dance competition hosted by the Queen of Scots Dance Academy in Mt. Clemens, MI. She not only handed out awards to all of dancers, she also competed and danced beautifully winning a 1st place and three 2nds.

Yesterday Meghan walked in the Focus: HOPE walk in Detroit.
The walk brings together people of various races, religions, and cultures to celebrate the diversity in our community.  The event also raises money for Focus: HOPE's Success Scholarship Fund which gives many talented men and women the opportunity to advance their education and job skills. Ashley celebrated Labor Day at the Romeo Peach Festival and Parade. She had a wonderful time riding the parade route in her historic Ford and spent the afternoon enjoying the Festival and some peachy treats! Check out the photos of her in the parade here.

While Ashley attended the Peach Festival, Meghan & Kelly moved back into school at SVSU & MSU for another semester. Good luck girls!

Yesterday, Meghan and Director Sheila attended the Michigan Festivals - Party at MI Place with a Touch of Royalty at the state capital. Despite the rain and muddy conditionings - it was a great day to spend with the royalty from all of the festivals and events across the state.

Congratulations to Queen Meghan! :) Yesterday she won her first group trophy for highland dance by winning three 1st and one 2nd at the Ft. Wayne Highland Games. We're so proud of you Meghan!!

Whew - Meghan's busy schedule just continues....this past week she spent up at Central Michigan University attending the Special Olympics Michigan where she was a celebrity guest. While there she attended an autograph session, was part of the opening ceremonies, watched the events, presented awards to the competitors, and brought smiles and fun to an amazing group of people.

What a busy weekend Meghan had this Memorial Day! She spent the weekend at the Alma Highland Festival and games where she participated in the parade through the raindrops with her little sister and even competed in the dance competition.

She celebrated Memorial Day at the Sterling Heights Memorial Day Parade where she walked with the Queen of Scots Dance Academy. It was a beautiful day to honor our veterans. Click here for photos from the weekend.

What a week the Queen of the Highlands program has had! Last week we had our official photo shoot at the Mansion at Pine Knob in Clarkson, MI. It was a wonderful day and the girls all did a fabulous job. We were very excited to have MacKenzie, Katie & Heather join us for the day too. Yesterday, Meghan was the guest of honor at the 1st annual Michigan Celtic Classic highland dance competition held by the Queen of  Scots Dance Academy in Mt. Clemens, MI. She handed out awards throughout the day and was able to spend time with many of the dancers and their families. Meghan & Ashley attended the 2009 QSDA Queen's Ceilidh yesterday as the guests of honor. Former Queen Heather ('07) and her brother were also present for the festivities. They all had a great time enjoying the entertainment, learning ceilidh dances and playing with the kids! Check out photos from the evening in their album.
