The QSDA Clan spent the day at the Detroit St. Andrew's Highland Games. Gracie did a great job competiting her hornpipe for the very first time, despite an injury. We're so proud of you. Way to go QSDA!

Kinady, Ms. Joan and Ms. Bree spent the weekend in Edinboro, PA with travel buddies McKenna and Ms. Melissa. Kinady had a great day and won four 1st and her first Intermediate trophy - congratulations on a great day! We're so proud of you! Shout out to our travel buddy McKenna on her four 1st's and trophy as well!

Yesterday, the Fuzi's went to Saline and enjoyed a beautiful day with no rain! YAY! They both have been working hard and it has been paying off. Congrats!

It was a busy competition weekend for the QSDA. The Fuzi Clan traveled to the Grandfather Mountain Highland Gathering to compete in their 2 day event, while the Campbell's headed east to Ithaca to visit family and compete at their games. Congratulations to everyone on a wonderful weekend. We are so proud of you all!

What a week it has been - Gracie spent the week at the MMHDA Dance Camp where she spent 3 days dancing, learning and having fun. Way to go Gracie!

Today, Ms. Joan & Kinady traveled to Ohio to compete at the Ohio competition and spent the week there for the Ohio Scottish Arts School.

The Campbell's traveled to Amherstberg, Ontario yesterday for the Ft. Malden competition. She danced great and competed the Barracks for the first time! Congrats!!

The QSDA had a busy Memorial Weekend starting with our annual Kick Off party on Friday night - we had a great night and were even joined by some member of the Michigan Highland Dance Academy and Sutherland School...and Ms. Kira celebrated her birthday with us! After spending Sunday watching the Midwest Regionals we headed back home for our annual Memorial Day Parade in Sterling Heights where we were joined by the St. Andrew's Queen of the Highlands, Maddie Knapp and had an even bigger & better ride this year! Take a look at the photos from our day here.

Yesterday we hosted our 2nd annual Michigan Celtic Classic dance competition at a new location in Utica, MI. Mattie, Josh & Gracie did double duty by both working and competiting. Shout out to Mattie on doing her sword for the first time in competition! They all did a great job - congrats!!

The QSDA dancers had a wonderful first performance of the season last night at the 2010 Sterling Heights Cultural Night - it was a great night of many cultures, dance, music and food and a great and fun way to kick off 2010. Click here for photos from the night.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the QSDA!!!!

Congratulations to the QSDA on a wonderful 2009! We had a great year, and the QSDA teachers are very proud of each you. Over the course of the year we had 2 dancers compete at their very first competitions, 2 dancers moved up to the intermediate category, 2 moved up to novice, 10 overall group trophies, 2 runner-up group trophies, 2 scholarship winners, 2 most promising dancers - all from only 6 competiting dancers!

What a great year QSDA! Here's to an equally successful 2010!

We spent the evening helping celebrate the Grand Re-Opening of the Eaton Rapids McDonald's restaurant as the highlight entertainment, along with musicians and ice carvers. It was a wonderful evening and a great celebration (not to mention the most beautiful McDonald's we've ever seen!). What a great end to 2009! Click here for photos from the evening.

Yesterday we held our 1st Annual Michigan Celtic Classic Fall competition in Mt. Clemens. We had a great day and really enjoyed hosting our first year of competitions. We were excited to have Josh & the Tolonen girls compete at our event this year and they all danced great. Special congrats to Allie on her next novice win!

This evening, Sarah Grace performed at the St. Andrew's Society meeting for her Kincaid Scholarship. Not only did she receive a scholarship to attend a dance camp this summer, she performed her 6-step Fling for the very first time. Congratulations Gracie - we are so proud of you!!! Today was our annual "costume class" where we all get dressed up in our Halloween costumes for lesson. Even Ms Bree, Mrs. Brownlee and Ghilly joined in the fun! Check back soon for photos.

Yesterday the QSDAers hung up their ghillies to put their feet to work in other ways. They joined together and walked 5 miles in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. Together we were able to raise over $5,000! Congrats to everyone on a job well done and another successful philanthropy event.

This past Sunday, some of the QSDAers spent the morning walking to help find a cure for Diabetes in honor of dancer Kinady. "Team Peach" raised over $1,000 for the JDRF with the help of some generous donations from members of the highland community - thanks for all of your support!
